Supporting Small Business in the Mon Forest Region

Mon Forest Towns Business Initiative

The Mon Forest Business Initiative offers business advice and funding assistance for professional services to any businesses located within the 10 counties of the Monongahela National Forest region of West Virginia.

Our program includes:

  • Free, customized one-on-one coaching
  • Group coaching/training
  • Access to professional third-party resources and expertise
  • Support and guidance in securing start-up or expansion loans

What type of businesses do you work with?

While the program focuses on developing forest-based businesses (e.g. recreation, outdoor education, tourism, and forest products), we will work with almost any type of business to strengthen our communities and local economy.

What is the cost of working with one of your advisors?

There is no monetary cost for our in-house advising services! All that we ask is that you work closely with us and invest the time it takes to create a strong plan for the future of your business. There is additional funding available for our clients to help offset additional professional services through an application process (e.g. website development, accountant services, accounting set-up/training, specialized training, etc.).

How do I get started?

Reach out to one of our advisors to start the conversation about your vision, goals, and obstacles. The plan forward is unique to each client, and we will outline a custom approach that meets your needs and accommodates your schedule.

*This is a joint program of Woodlands Development and Lending and Partner Community Capital

Forest Farming

“Woodlands was very gracious to help us finance a website, which has really kick started produce sales from our high tunnel and our new BBQ catering. Without their help, this would have never been a possibility.”

The Numbers Game

“I have been approved from another bank! I want to thank you though, you’ve got my head constantly thinking numbers, numbers, numbers, numbers, more so than I was. Thank you for helping me realize more.”

Our Service Area

Our service area includes Barbour, Grant, Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Tucker, and Webster Counties.
